When I (Becky Smith the website owner) first dreamt of creating diabetesand.me my vision was to create a space for individuals affected by diabetes or related conditions to share their experiences. I believe that by sharing experiences we can all help and inspire each other on our journey. My journey started out with uncontrolled blood glucose levels, extremely high cholesterol and various other issues (you can read more about my story here if you are interested). It was the inspirational, real-life stories, told by others that gave me hope. I read stories about individuals who had achieved diabetic remission to stories of individuals that were struggling to achieve their goals. Both scenarios taught me a great deal and empowered me to make a lifestyle change. For this reason, I would love to interview any individuals who would like to share their story and experiences of living with diabetes. I also invite any talented writers or content creators to join the diabetesand.me team and contribute diabetic/health-related content.
There are two options, to become a full-time contributor or to contribute a guest post or recipe. Both options are explained in more detail below:
Full-time contributor
A full-time contributor is an individual who wishes to write more than one post or recipe on diabetesand.me.
Posting about life/health experiences
The individual may wish to write about their experience and post follow up updates or experiences. There are no set amount or timing expectations to as/when the individual would post, it would be completely at their discretion with the ability to stop posting with immediate effect. A basic structure of how these posts should be written will be agreed upon by the website owner, Becky Smith. These posts would also be proofread and approved by the website owner before being published. As a regular post contributor, you will have an author’s page on the website showcasing all of your posts. Each blog post will display the author of the post with the link to the author’s page. If you have your own social media or online presence, these links can be added to the author’s page.
Another option is for us to do the posts in an interview format, I will send you a set of questions to answer with the option to add free text at the end of the interview. This is useful for individuals who may want some guidance or a helping start with writing about their experiences.
Posting recipes
Diabetesand.me promotes a low carb lifestyle for diabetes control and only publishes low carb recipes. For any individuals that regularly create delicious low carb recipes but do not have a platform or audience to publish them on, this option would be a fantastic option for you. As a recipe contributor, you will have an author page on the website which shows all of your recipes. Each individual recipe page will display the author of the recipe with the link to the author’s page. If you have your own social media or online presence, these links can be added to the author’s page.
Perks of a full-time contributor
Diabetesand.me is currently not in a position to pay individuals for their contribution, however, we do offer a few perks. There is also the potential for these perks to grow over time and offer more benefit. Below is a list of the current perks we can offer you:- An author page on diabetesand.me
- Receive a free diabetesand.me t-shirt
- The opportunity to attend selected events on behalf of diabetesand.me. Please note, this perk is most likely to be limited to UK events only.
Contribute a guest post/recipe
We also welcome anyone to write a guest post for diabetesand.me, this is suitable for individuals who would like to share a one-off experience or recipe.
For individuals that have a social media or online presence, we would be happy to include links to your website or social media. Similar to a full-time contributor, we can offer the option to interview you should you want some guidance on writing a post. We will agree on a set of questions to send you to answer, with the option of adding additional text at the end.
For individuals who wish to have full freedom of writing their story, a basic structure of how this post should be written will be agreed upon by the website owner, Becky Smith. These posts would also be proofread and approved by the website owner before being published.
In order to become a full-time or guest contributor, it is required that you can speak and write fluent English. All posts will be proofread and may need to be edited by the website owner if there are any grammatical issues. For individuals that would like to write their own posts, you may be asked for a sample of your previous work before being accepted as a contributor.
Interested? We would love to hear from you and love to welcome any new members to the team. You can contact the website owner, Becky Smith, via the contact form or by sending your message to info@diabetesand.me.
